1 day Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary excursion tour
Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary is the only sanctuary in Uganda where Chimpanzees are treated from their illness before they are re-introduced back to national parks. The island is located 23 kilometers offshores from Entebbe, the home of Uganda’s international airport. The island is blessed with several tree species, water and forest bird species, and unique reptile species like the snakes and lizards varieties. A view of the Lake Victoria unending waters shall relax your mind and have a thought of the greatest adventure.
Getting to the island is a bit challenging. There are only two shifts to the island. The boat cruise to the island only sail during these intervals ( 9-10am) and 12-1pm. This makes this tour so unique; you need to prepare in advance to ensure that you book a safari to the island. Depending on your travelling hours, you shall be able to get to the island. On arrival at the sanctuary, you shall witness several activities which are practiced to help the chimpanzees live better. Part of the most popular activity is chimpanzees feeding. The chimpanzees are fed at 11am and 3 pm and during this interval, the chimpanzees shall come near the raised walkway to get their food which shall make it possible to spot them within a close distance.
You may opt to stay at the island for a night as there are several available accommodations to all classes of tourists however since it is a 1 day tour, after spotting the chimpanzees. You shall sail back to Entebbe to mark the end of the tour. Food is normally packed in lunch boxes and therefore, you won’t feel hungry. On arrival in Entebbe, spend some time at the lake while you witness how the day goes from evening to darkness.
