2-day Agricultural tour in Uganda
Come and join our tour guide as they take you to two modern agricultural sites in Uganda- Bukalasa Agricultural center and Jesa Farm. Bukalasa Agricultural center has been one of the leading agricultural centers dating back in 1920 when it used to be a cotton breeding center. The center has been around when Uganda’s economy has been transforming to welcome new agricultural products. It is the best place to visit if you want a deep understanding of Uganda’s agricultural history and the future. Currently, there are various projects being taken to ensure that the country retrains its position as one of the agricultural countries in Africa.
Day 1: Transfer to Bukalasa Agricultural center
You may not need to wake up very early in the morning as the distance from Kampala to Bukalasa Agricultural center is short however to get into the safari mood, it is always better to start the day early enough. After breakfast, our tour guide shall pick you up from your residence or hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe. It is possible to be picked at the airport, Entebbe International Airport, and be transferred directly to Bukalasa Agricultural center. The distance from Kampala to the center is about 54 kilometers. Upon arrival, you shall meet a team of agricultural researchers and experts at the center who shall lead you into a knowledge session where they shall give you detailed insights about the researches being taken at the center and their expected results. You shall marvel at some of the great minds at this center, it is the center of crazy and innovative agricultural projects in Uganda. This is a great hub to project into the country’s agriculture future. Later, you shall drive back to Kampala to mark the end of the day.
Day 2: Explore the Jesa Farm.
The Jesa farm is one of the first dairy farms in Uganda. The farm was founded in 1989 by one of the Uganda’s greatest entrepreneur, the late Dr.James Mulwana. The farm is located in Busunju which is 50km from Kampala. This North West suburb has gained reputation because of Jesa farm. The farm hosts over 650 Friesian cattle which produce over 100000 liters of milk a day. There are a lot of products which are being produced at the farm and these include quality fresh milk, yogurt, butter, cheese and others. These products are sold in every supermarket and grocery stores in Uganda. Early in the morning after breakfast, our guide shall drive you to the Jesa farm. On arrival, you shall meet and greet with the farm workers. Later, you start your exploration where you shall have the opportunity of exploring all the modern animal husbandry techniques being applied at the farm. You shall visit the cattle farm, look at the cattle’s feeding habits and later, you shall proceed to the milk processing facility where different milk products are realized. At the end of the day, you shall be inspired to take up agriculture. This is both an educational and leisure safari. Later, you shall transfer back to Kampala or your desired drop off point to end this wonderful safari.
