3-day Chimpanzee habituation safari in Uganda
The chimpanzee habituation safari in Uganda is an exceptional safari because it shall enable you to experience what it means to make chimpanzees behave normally around human beings. It should be noted that there are several chimpanzee groups in Kibale national park however you cannot trek all the chimpanzees. Most of the chimpanzees in the park are not physically used to humans and therefore such chimpanzees may view humans as a threat to their lives and they may act in a self-defense way when they see humans. During the habituation exercise, you shall witness what it means to change the mindset of chimpanzees from wild chimpanzees to human-friendly chimpanzees.
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park
Kibale national park has the largest population of chimpanzees in Uganda. The largest percentages of these chimpanzees are wild chimpanzees which need to get used to humans. Inside park, there are research centers where researchers and conservationist gather to carry out several research and conservation efforts. Part of their work is to habituate the chimpanzees, during the habituation safari; you shall accompany the researchers and conservationist during their habituation exercise.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall be picked up by our friendly and welcoming tour guide and drive through Mityana, Mubende, and kyenjojo areas. You shall have a stop in fort portal for lunch. Later continue to the fort portal crater area to visit the Amabere g’nnyinamwiru. You shall be welcomed by local personnel who is familiar with the area and continue to the Amabere g’nnyinamwiru caves-these breasts-like caves are believed to have belonged to Nyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku, the king of Bachwezi. It is believed that she was denied to breastfeed because his father thought the grand son would take over his throne. Finally, continue to drive to Kibale national park and check in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: chimpanzee habituation
Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall continue to the kanyanchu tourism center for briefing. You shall be briefed about the habituation exercise. Unlike the chimpanzee trekking safari where you only trek chimpanzees for a few hours, during the habituation exercise you shall spend the whole day with the chimpanzees while you are witnessing how they feed, hoot, munch fruits, and other activities. You shall researcher giving them names, grouping them and using several tactics to introduce them to humans.You shall be accompanied by researchers and conservationist. It is a magical experience which is next to none. After the whole day of chimpanzee habituation, you shall retreat back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Travel back to Kampala.
Early in the morning, you shall travel back to Kampala. Enjoy the 6 hours’ drive to Kampala. Along the way, you shall make a stopover at Mpanga tea estate and do some cycling around the tea estate. Witness different aspects of tea plucking and if you are willing, you shall join the tea estate staff. Arrive in Kampala late in the evening.
